Revolución is the follow-up to The Dead Daisies’ 2013 self-titled debut. The first album started as a studio project headed up by vocalist Jon Stevens and guitarist David Lowy. As the lineup evolved, the band now features former Motley Crue singer John Corabi, Richard Fortus and Dizzy Reed from Guns N’ Roses fame on guitar and keyboards, guitarist David Lowy, bass player Marco Mendoza (Ted Nugent, Thin Lizzy) and drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake, Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne).
Back in February 2015, the Daisies got the chance to play some rock n roll in Cuba and it proved a revelation. The revelation became a revolution as the boys started conceiving their next album. The passion they’d experienced in Cuba was confirmation the world needs to be reminded that classic rock is alive and kicking. With the new album, and new singer John Corabi, The Dead Daisies were going to deliver just that – an album of classic rock Revolución!
The Dead Daisies have made their mark with Revolución as it showcases their classic rock n’ roll sound with plenty of sweat and swagger. The strongest part of the band is the addition of John Corabi on vocals. Corabi’s raspy growl is the perfect fit for the songs on Revolución as it helps solidify the unique sound of the Daisies.
The strength of the Daisies musicianship is highlighted in the first single “Midnight Moses.” The bluesy guitars, air-tight rhythm section, and rocking piano build the perfect foundation for Corabi’s grittiness. The second single, “Mexico,” is a true rock anthem that tells the story of running wild and having a good time south of the border.
“When we were in the writing process, the idea came up to write a song about Mexico and all the experiences of it. Having spent the first 15 years of my life there, I was obviously exited,” says bassist Marco Mendoza. “The result was a rocking in your face anthem with a very strong melody and hook! ‘Mexico.’ We had a chance to play it live a few times and you could see the positive reaction on the fans faces. This is a winner in my opinion!”
From the funk-rock grooves in “Get Up, Get Ready” to the dueling guitars in “With You And I,” there is something for everyone on Revolución.
