Rock To Recovery, a transformative program for those in treatment and recovery, is pleased to announce this year’s Rock To Recovery 3 on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the legendary Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. The event will feature music from Steel Panther and will be hosted by Academy Award-winning American film director Bryan Fogel. This year’s benefit concert will be honoring musician, DJ, record producer, singer, and songwriter, Moby with the Rock to Recovery Award.
The Rock to Recovery award is given each year to public figures known far and wide, who use their power to influence great masses of people. The award specifically honor those people who have battled addiction to overcome in an industry full of challenges. In doing so and by sharing their experience while accepting the award, they also give great hope to others. “When people are new to recovery, they think life is going to suck, and many are just hopeless says Rock to Recovery Founder, Wes Geer. “So the coolest thing about the awards we give is we get to honor people that have beaten great odds, in an industry full of seemingly impossible challenges. Our recipients have stories that have flown under the radar for most of the general population. So when people hear Moby who’s has had huge hit records, DJ’s, is in recovery and advocates so strongly as he does, it really brings hope to the whole world- that you can be an artist, super cool, cutting edge, and do it all sober.” Past award recipients include Corey Taylor (singer, founder Slipknot, Stonesour), Wayne Kramer (guitarist MC5, founder Jail Guitar Doors) and Mike Ness (singer/founder Social Distortion).
The concert serves to raise funds and awareness for non-profit musical programs expanding the Rock to Recovery reach, and helping to support, advocate and inspire people in all types of recovery: Wounded Warriors, addiction, mental health, PTSD, TBI, at-risk youth, and foster children. “We are so excited to be in year three of our annual event. Each year we help reframe recovery a bit further, by showing just how many amazing humans have overcome huge life threatening obstacles, to beat their demons and thrive,” says Geer. “Our sold out events garner widespread coverage from the entertainment industry, helping us further our message, and act as our primary revenue source financing our core service; helping struggling people heal through playing music.”
There will be a Rockstar-studded concert headlined by the legendary Steel Panther and a performance by the Rock To Recovery Band comprised of musicians from Korn, Hed P.E., Sevendust, Snot, D.I., Death on Wednesday, Kill Radio, and Kut U Up.
The event, which is being sponsored by The Canyon, New Vista Behavioral Health, Balboa Horizons, Fusion TV, and Share.tv, will be an excellent opportunity to celebrate Rock to Recovery’s current work.
