The official video for Powerman 5000’s new single, “Sid Vicious In A Dress,” was released today. The song is taken from the band’s upcoming album, New Wave, which will be released on October 27 via Pavement Entertainment.

New Wave is Powerman 5000’s eleventh official release since forming in 1992 and continues the strides and success, from their platinum-selling album Tonight The Stars Revolt! to their most recent chart-topping single in 2014, “How To Be A Human.”

Powerman 5000 vocalist Spider One stated about “Sid Vicious In A Dress”: “I suppose at its simplest it’s a twisted love song, but really it’s about loving what hurts you, what is bad for you. Staying when you should run. Over the years, Sid Vicious has become the poster child for chaos and self-destruction. I just took that and put it in the form of a beautiful girl. The title of the song kind of says it all.”

Regarding the overall sound of the follow-up to 2014’s Builders Of The Future, Spider One said: “We went a bit dirtier on this one. Ripped it up more than the last couple of records. One of the goals was to recreate the noise of the live show. Keep in the chaos.”

On the topic of the new album title, Spider said: “New Wave? Are we a new wave band? Well, I would say that we have always had more in common with Devo than Dio.”

Powerman 5000’s legacy continues to push the boundaries of rock, metal, industrial, rap and punk to create innovative and groundbreaking releases time and time again. With songs like “David F**king Bowie,” “Cult Leader” and “Sid Vicious In A Dress,” the new album is sure to please longtime fans, as well as turn the heads of many more to come.

New Wave track listing:

01. Footsteps And Voices

04. David F**king Bowie
05. Cult Leader
06. No White Flags

Liv Sin Releases ‘King Of The Damned’ Video

The track is a call to action for the public to do something about the extinction of the world’s wildlife.

Liv Sin, the new band led by former Sister Sin vocalist Liv “Sin” Jagrell, has released the official music video for a new song called “King Of The Damned.” The track is a call to action for the public to do something about the extinction of the world’s wildlife. The band has chosen to work with the Swedish animal rights organization Djurens Rätt during the single campaign.

“For me, this song is a call to action to everyone that we as humans will soon extinguish all of the world’s wildlife,” Liv says. “And we need to take action immediately otherwise there will be nothing left.

“I got the inspiration to the lyrics from Nick Brandt’s exhibition ‘Inherit The Dust’ (a photo exhibition where Brandt revisited places where he used to take pictures of the wildlife, and how its landscapes are now of garbage and people living in the garbage) and the shooting of Cecil The Lion. For me, both of those events are extremely depressing and not very flattering for mankind. Unfortunately, that’s the way we are heading if we do nothing.

“Remember Lion King? Well, soon there is not going to be any ‘King of the Jungle’ left, they will be ‘King of the Damned’ instead.

She continues: “I wish that everyone would take a minute to just think about it, about how we are treating our world.

“We chose to cooperate with a Swedish animal rights organization called Djurens Rätt on this song. All of the profits of this song from our Bandcamp site will go to them. You can also donate through PayPal at info@despotz.se.”

Liv Sin’s debut album, Follow Me, was released in April via the Swedish label Despotz Records.

A Perfect Circle has released the official music video for “The Doomed,” the first new music to be heard from the band’s expected 2018 album.

The clip, which was directed by Jeremy Danger and Travis Shinn, arrives as the band is in the final two weeks of its North American tour. A Perfect Circle also recently announced its first European tour in 14 years.

Upon arrival of “The Doomed,” singer Maynard James Keenan said: “Fourteen years have passed since we released eMOTIVe. A new release is long overdue. Nickelback leader Chad Kroeger called “The Betrayal (Act III)” “probably one of the hardest and heaviest songs we’ve ever put out… It is quite heavy; there’s a lot of screaming that goes on in that chorus,” he said. “I think we’ve all tasted a little betrayal in our days and it is not a flavor that I think any of us liked to swallow.”
