Frank Zappa ‘Back On The Road: The Hologram Tour’ Announced

Production for the Zappa shows will kick off in late 2017, with performances announced later in 2018.

Published

on

Eyellusion, live music’s premier hologram production company, today announced that it will work closely with the Zappa Family Trust to produce hologram performances of Frank Zappa, giving fans an opportunity to experience the prolific, eclectic and critically acclaimed music legend live in concert again. Production for the Zappa shows will kick off in late 2017, with performances announced later in 2018.

“I’m thrilled that Frank Zappa will finally be going back out on tour playing his most well-known music as well as some rare and unheard material,” said Ahmet Zappa, co-Trustee of the Zappa Family Trust. “We can’t wait to bring his creative work back to the stage with the musicians he loved to play with, such as Steve Vai, Ian Underwood, Adrian Belew, Arthur Barrow, Vinnie Colaiuta, Scott Thunes, Mike Keneally, Denny Walley, Warren Cuccurullo and Napoleon Murphy Brock among others who are committed to being part of this epic endeavor. When I spoke with them, they were excited at the prospect of performing alongside Frank once again and can’t wait to give fans an unforgettable experience.”

He continued, “Also, how radical would it be to have Moon singing ‘Valley Girl’ onstage with Frank? Or to see Dweezil side by side with our father playing dueling guitar solos? That would be my greatest wish and I look forward to bringing this special celebration of Frank’s legacy to a town near you. But if that wasn’t enough Zappa coolness, we’re also planning on staging Joe’s Garage The Musical with none other than Frank Zappa himself starring as the Central Scrutinizer.”

“Frank was an innovator and his art transcended so many different mediums,” said Diva Zappa, co-Trustee of the Zappa Family Trust. “He left behind such an extensive body of work and we want to celebrate his music with really creative and unique live hologram productions that will introduce his music to a new generation of fans and let so many that enjoyed his music when he was alive experience it again. We have had this idea for many years and after meeting with the team at Eyellusion, we knew that they were the right partner to make it a reality.”

“We work closely with the Zappa family on their various projects, and look forward to sharing new Frank Zappa performances with his longtime fans, as well as expanding his audience to give new fans the opportunity to share in that experience” adds Bruce Resnikoff, President and CEO, Universal Music Enterprises.

“We are thrilled to welcome such a monumental and important artist to our lineup of planned live music hologram productions,” said Jeff Pezzuti, CEO, Eyellusion. “Frank Zappa was an incredible musician, unmatched in his output, tackled so many different genres and influenced a generation of artists that would go on to help further shape rock and pop for decades to come. We are music lovers first and can’t wait to get to work on yet another show that lets fans experience such timeless and important music in a live concert setting.”

Nikki Sixx Announces ‘The Heroin Diaries’ Graphic Novel

This powerful book will give both insight and understanding to the deadly trap and temptation of addiction.

Published

on

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the release of Nikki Sixx’s drug-soaked New York Times best-selling memoir, The Heroin Diaries. Chronicling the year of decadence and depravity that almost cost Sixx his life during the recording and tour for Motley Crue’s seminal 1987 album Girls Girls Girls, the book not only became a worldwide bestseller but also spawned the band Sixx:A.M., Sixx’s nationally syndicated daily iHeart Media rock radio show “Sixx Sense With Nikki Sixx” and soon, tenth-anniversary editions of The Heroin Diaries book and Sixx:A.M.’s soundtrack by the same name (to be announced next month and coming out this fall), as well as the forthcoming The Heroin Diaries play, among many other ventures.

Now, Nikki Sixx and Heavy Metal are proud to announce a graphic novel adaptation of this powerful book that gives both insight and understanding to the deadly trap and temptation of addiction. The Heroin Diaries graphic novel will be the first release under Heavy Metal’s new 12 X 12 imprint, a new line of music-themed art books and graphic novels that will explore the songs and experiences of the most exciting musical artists. Fans visiting Comic-Con San Diego can get an exclusive first preview of the interior pages when visiting the Heavy Metal booth #1529 at the convention between today and Sunday, July 23.

Jeff Krelitz, CEO of Heavy Metal, said: “I’ve been the biggest fan of Motley Crue since the release of Too Fast for Love, and have nothing but the greatest respect for Nikki and his songwriting, so for us to be able to collaborate with him on bringing this tragedy-to-triumph to a new audience in a powerful way is a dream come true.”

Says Nikki: “The Heroin Diaries has always been deeply personal to me. So when the idea came up for a graphic novel based on the story, who better to partner with than the iconic Heavy Metal brand? I grew up reading their magazine as a kid. This is really a passion project and I’ve been intimately involved in every step along the way, from the storyline to the look and feel of the art. Working with Jeff, Rantz and their team has been an inspiring experience and I think we came up with a really unique spin on The Heroin Diaries that tells the story from a different angle. It is meant to be a treat for fans of The Heroin Diaries, old and new, and I hope everyone will enjoy the graphic novel as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you.”

Working in close collaboration with Sixx, The Heroin Diaries is being adapted by Rantz Hoseley, known for his award-winning work with Tori Amos on the graphic novel Comic Book Tattoo, along with acclaimed artists Danijel Zezelj, Andy Kuhn and Kieron Dwyer. Hoseley summed up the development experience by saying: “Getting to work with Nikki and his team at 10th Street Entertainment to bring this story to life in a new way has been incredible. It’s been a fantastic collaboration focused on the sole goal that when the fans pick it up, it blows their hair back like a power chord through a stack of Marshalls.”

The 150-page graphic novel will be presented in a 12″x12″ prestige “album” format and come in different collector’s editions, details of which will be revealed in the near future. Those interested should sign up now at Pledge Music to guarantee the opportunity to purchase a copy, receive an exclusive 10% discount on their order when the graphic novel becomes available for purchase next month and also, to get exclusive news about the the forthcoming tenth-anniversary editions of the book and soundtrack first.

Sony Music Entertainment and legendary heavy metal band Judas Priest announced today that Judas Priest: Road To Valhalla, a new mobile game for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is now available in the App Store.

The app features stunning new visuals and gameplay set to the iconic songs “Halls of Valhalla,” “Breaking the Law,” “Turbo Lover”, “Electric Eye,” “Painkiller” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming.”

Judas Priest: Road To Valhalla innovates by making isolated song stems (eg drums, vocals, guitar) from the 2016 Battle Cry album available to players exclusively within the game. Using an innovative visual mechanic, players must fill “stem meters” to construct the full song and progress through each level of the game.

“When we set out to make this game, we wanted to give fans a new kind of visual listening experience” said Rob Halford, who also appears in a series of exclusive video clips throughout the game.

“For the first time, we are making individual stems of our songs available to fans to give them a new and interactive way to engage with some of the best songs from our catalog.”

Judas Priest: Road To Valhalla is a joint collaboration between Judas Priest, Sony Music Entertainment, Trinifold Management LLC UK and Babaroga, a leading mobile game studio.

Judas Priest members Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, Richie Faulkner, Ian Hill and Scott Travis comment: “Metal maniacs are you ready to join Judas Priest on the Road To Valhalla? We are excited to have you take charge and lead the way on the bike and the tour bus! Let the molten metal mayhem begin with the thrill of the ride!
