Exclusive Interview: Renee Perez

Rock Confidential has been featuring exclusive interviews – like this one – with the top names in music and entertainment since 2002.

It’s great to talk to you, Renee. What have you been up to?

Things have been going great. We’ve been filming a new movie, The Four. The second half films in February and it will be released in May.

Let’s start out by you telling me a little about yourself. What were you like growing up?

I was just a normal kid. I was born and raised here in Vegas. I have a lot of friends. I played the violin and I guess you could have called me somewhat of a nerd! I’m a bit of a tomboy, too. I don’t really like doing girly stuff. I like hanging out. There’s nothing but desert here so we’d go out and catch lizards and snakes and stuff like that.

What about high school?

I was a cheerleader. I was in orchestra as well and the National Art Honor Society. I really liked drawing and painting.

Do you still draw and paint now?

I don’t draw as much as I used to. I still play my violin. I really like that. It keeps me occupied when I get bored.

To be such a normal kid growing up, when did you realize you were really in touch with your sexual side so much that you’d eventually end up in adult?

I would have never thought I’d end up in the adult industry. I’d never played with a toy until I was 18. I was with a guy and I hated sex. I didn’t want him to touch me or anything. I don’t know what changed. I remember a friend asked me to do him a favor. I asked him what it was and he said his wife was confused. She said she liked girls but she’s never been with a girl and she’d like to be with a girl just once to figure it out. I was her first girl. It was pretty interesting. It was fun. She realized she was lesbian and he thanked me! I guess it made their marriage a lot better, too. That’s when I realized I liked to play with girls. It was a lot of fun.

So you didn’t know for sure before then, either?

No. I knew that I liked guys. I knew I didn’t like messing with my boyfriend when it came to sex. He just grossed me out. I think it’s because he begged for it so much. I was about 18 when I realized how sexual I could be. I was working at a restaurant and my boyfriend was on me because I wasn’t making a lot of money. He told me I should do some Internet work and make a couple hundred bucks in the same day. I tried it and liked it. I got to step out of my norm and play dress up for a little bit. It’s like a different side of me that just flips on when the camera is on.

Did you watch porn when you were younger? Did you ever accidentally stumble across some movies or magazines?

Magazines, yes. All the time! My brothers looked at Penthouse and Playboy. I used to look at the magazines but not for sexual reasons. I just thought the girls were pretty. When I was younger I remember a couple of times I wished I could be the girl in the magazine. I never thought it would actually happen.

How did you pursue a career in adult?

I’d already been in Hustler and Penthouse. I started doing girl/girl videos for Penthouse because I was a Penthouse Pet. You’re kinda required to do that. After that I thought I had nowhere else to go in the magazine world. I could keep doing magazines but that wasn’t going to really lead anywhere. I started doing small productions with small companies for websites. I met Michael Ninn at AVN this past year and he hired me for a few jobs. It’s just taken off from there.

So how long have you been in the adult industry altogether?

Three and a half years.

Tell me more about working with Ninn Worx_SR. How long after your initial meeting did you sign on to be a contract girl?

We’d talked about it some back in February. I wasn’t ready for it yet. I still wanted to do some work with a few companies that I hadn’t worked with yet. I think back in August he had hired me to do a job that turned out to be House of Perez and he really wanted me to think about a contract. I told him then that I would do it as long as he worked with my boyfriend for the boy/girl scenes. It was fine!

Ninn Worx stuff always stands out from a lot of the other companies.

Yeah, he does wonderful work. The crew and everybody is so nice and I’m very comfortable with them. It wasn’t hard to make the transition to just work with one company.

What are some things you want to accomplish with your career?

I want to take it as far as it will take me right now. I want to own my own chain of websites and my own production company. I’m trying to make a name for myself now so I can gain confidence from the girls.

Let’s talk about music a little. What kind of music do you listen to?

I listen to everything. I like country. Most of my friends would tell you that I’m a country girl at heart. I like rock, too. I just saw Daft Punk. I like System of a Down, Metallica, the Doors, and the Eagles.

You gotta tell me – have you been line dancing?

I have been line dancing! They just closed down Gilley’s and I used to love to go down to the country bar.

Renee, thanks for making time for this. What would you like to say to your fans?

Keep watching my stuff! It gets better and better!
