Hey Ashlynn, it’s great to catch up with you! What have you been up to lately?
I’ve been traveling a lot. I’ve been to Albequerque, El Paso, Denver, Vegas, Ohio, and Miami all in the past couple of months. I’ve shot for Club three times, Cheri, High Society, Gallery, Fox…I’ve been very busy!
We’ll get to your contract girl status in just a second. Tell me a little about yourself first. How old are you and where are you from?
I’m 22 and I’m from Choctaw, Oklahoma.
What were you like in high school?
I was a cheerleader for 12 years through grade school, junior high and high school. There was three years where I was on three different squads at the same time. I would leave one practice and go to another. I was cheering at games and always busy. I wasn’t the rebellious type. I was just different. I didn’t just hang out with one crowd. I tried to fit my time with a bunch of different people. I was considered a bit of a black sheep. People weren’t really surprised when they found out I was in adult. Prior to entering the business I had only been with four other guys. That included my ex-husband. I’ve been married and I’m already divorced. I was very sexually open and active, though.
When did you realize that you wanted to be open with your sexuality?
I was very, very young – before I even started having sex. I couldn’t wait to grow up so I could do things! I knew early on that I liked girls as well.
Everybody remembers the first time they watched porn. What do you remember about the first time you saw it?
We had DirectTV growing up and we had one of those chips where you could watch everything. After school one day I remember flipping through the channels and it just came on. I knew they were there the whole time and I just never paid attention. Something just caught my eye. I don’t remember the name of the movie but it had a cute little asia girl in it. They were having sex on the floor and I just remember thinking, “Why don’t they do it like this?” I kept flipping through and it did turn me on but I was thinking how I’d like to be that girl. That was the defining moment.
How did you make the leap from watching porn to being in adult movies?
I started nude modeling. Some friends of mine in Oklahoma own all the tattoo shops and the piercing shops. They wanted to start a nude magazine. This was almost three years ago. They told me if I did some nude modeling for them that they would put together a portfolio and send it out to some magazines. I’m comfortable with my body and I don’t care to get naked. They sent my portfolio to Easy Rider magazine and to Gallery and I got into both of those within the first six months. I came out to LA and ended up shooting for both magazines at the same time. The managing editor of Easy Rider told me that if I really wanted to go far that the adult entertainment industry was the way to go. It had always been in the back of my head to do that anyway. I was married at the time. When I got divorced I found an agent and moved to Florida and started working. Originally I was only supposed to stay in Florida for two weeks. I went back to Oklahoma and decided to pack up and go for good. Now I’m contracted and here I am.
Were you nervous to go from nude modeling to doing hardcore on camera?
Yeah, I was nervous at first. I had anxieties about what people or society would think. I talked to my friends and my mother about it. My mom told me that it doesn’t matter what other people think. I thought of it that way. I got over my anxieties and here I am.
You landed a contract after being in the industry for just a few months…
I wanted to sign a contract – I knew that before I started. In order to have longevity and security that a contract would be the best thing. I went to AVN this past year and my sole purpose was to meet with companies and discuss signing a contract. I met with Scott Taylor at New Sensations first. I met with other great companies and I loved what they had to say but me and Scott clicked more. Our ideas were more on the same level. I kinda consider myself a little business savvy. It was very exciting. I count my blessings everyday. I couldn’t ask for anything better.
Since you were able to reach that goal so quickly, what other goals do you have?
It makes you feel very confident that goals are reachable. It broadened my horizons a lot. I really want to do some writing and directing. I don’t really want a company of my own but things are going really differently now. Everything’s changing. There are a lot of things going on in our world that I’m really excited about.
Has everything happened the way you thought it would so far?
Actually, it has. I don’t know what I was thinking before I started, but maybe I thought it should be a certain way and it’s went that way. Everything has been great. I couldn’t expect things to get any better, really. It’s crazy. The traveling and the fans and the movies are great.
I always like to ask: What kind of music do you like?
I love all kinds of music. I’m a music whore! From bluegrass to Christian rock to rock to rap. I like hardcore rap and heavy industrial rock. I like folk and gospel. I like it all!
What was your first concert?
My first concert was Metallica. They are one of my favorite bands ever!
What’s going on for the rest of the year?
I’ll be filming another one of my Ashlynn Goes To College series. It’s really funny. I’ll be filming My Plaything and of course the AVN awards. I’ll be trying to get back to Oklahoma, too. I’m missing a lot of football and that’s very important to me. I’m missing a lot of my nephew’s games and that’s important to me, too. I’m trying to make time for everything. It’s hard but it can be done.
