Diamond Head To Tour The U.S. With First-Ever Festival Appearances

One of the most influential heavy metal bands of all time, Diamond Head will be returning to the States for tour dates in May and in August.

One of the most influential heavy metal bands of all time, Diamond Head, will be returning to the States for tour dates in May and in August. From May 17-27, the band – led by co-founding member/guitarist Brian Tatler – will be playing headline shows (and two dates with Ross the Boss, as well as a performance at the Legions of Metal Festival in Chicago with Armored Saint, and an appearance at Rocklahoma in Oklahoma). And then from August 19-25, Diamond Head will return to the US for another festival appearance (Psycho Vegas 2017 in Las Vegas), as well as additional headlining gigs.

Tatler adds, “Excited to be back in the US this spring, playing songs from the new album Diamond Head along with many classics from Lightning To The Nations, Borrowed Time and Canterbury’.”

As part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, Diamond Head came up in the same scene as eventual global headliners Def Leppard and Iron Maiden. And while Diamond Head did not achieve the same commercial success as the aforementioned bands, they did influence countless subsequent musicians – especially Metallica, as it was a then-teenage Lars Ulrich that befriended the band early on and became a major fan. Subsequently, Metallica has covered such Diamond Head classics as “Am I Evil,” “Helpless,” “The Prince,” and “It’s Electric” multiple times – on multiple platinum releases.

In addition to performing these classics at their upcoming U.S. shows, expect to also hear material performed off their latest release – 2016’s self-titled offering. Their seventh studio albums overall, the album has become one of their most critically acclaimed of their entire career – as evidenced by Classic Rock Magazine saying, “It just fuckin’ rocks in glorious timeless fashion” and Metal Hammer simply adding, “This is rather excellent.”

And soon, many U.S. fans will get to see the legendary Diamond Head on a nearby concert stage.

“We are really looking forward to Rocklahoma which will be our largest U.S. festival to date,” says vocalist Rasmus Andersen. “We hope to see and meet loads of fans on our shows between the 17th and 27th of May. We will be playing songs from our new album and classic catalog along with one or two surprises for the hardcore fans.”

Killswitch Engage, Anthrax Announce KillThrax II Tour

As with the inaugural KillThrax tour, Killswitch Engage and Anthrax will rotate the show’s closing slot on KillThrax II.

Evil Dead II. Dawn Of The Dead. The Godfather: Part 2. The Empire Strikes Back. All sequels that are better than the original. Add KillThrax II to that list. Back by popular demand, Killthrax is coming at ya again my friends.” — Scott Ian, Anthrax

What do you do when you’ve co-headlined one of the hottest metal touring packages of 2017? Well, like any rock band that cares about its fans, you do it again, but you take it to the places that missed out the first time. And that’s exactly what metalcore masterminds Killswitch Engage and legendary thrash/metal masters Anthrax are announcing today — KillThrax II, a 29-city tour of North America presented by SiriusXM that kicks off January 25 in Montreal, Canada and will zig-zag across the continent to wind up in Portland, ME on March 4.

Havok will serve as the opening act for the entire tour. Confirmed dates are below.

Said Anthrax’s Frank Bello, “After playing so many amazing shows last year with our friends Killswitch Engage, I’m psyched for round two of KillThrax, and we’re adding Havok to the heaviness!” Added Charlie Benante, “The shows were great, the audiences were great, and we all felt great about the whole thing, so why not do it again?”

“We are looking forward to the next leg of the ‘KillThrax’ tour,” said KsE singer Jesse Leach. “We had a blast on the first one and we enjoyed sharing the stage with the humble legends Anthrax! There is such a synergy between the two bands and a certain unity that is infectious, so it was a no brainer to put this package back together and hit the road. It’s an honor and we are excited for these shows, the fans, and the good times! KillThrax is gearing up for round two, so let’s keep the party rolling!”

As with the inaugural KillThrax tour, Killswitch Engage and Anthrax will rotate the show’s closing slot on KillThrax II. Fans can also expect a night of high energy, musical ferocity and sheer intensity, and what one reviewer called “an incredible night of live music with heavy hitters that provided hours of escape into metal bliss.”
